Hello everyone, my name is Miss Pickles and welcome to Year 3! This year is such an exciting time as you move up into Key Stage 2 and begin your journey as some of the older children in school. With this comes new responsibilities, chances to show how much you’ve grown, and plenty of opportunities to shine as mature, independent learners.

In our class, we’ll be working hard, but we’ll also make sure we have lots of fun along the way. I love teaching RE, History and DT, and I can’t wait to share my passion for being creative with you – whether that’s building, designing, or exploring the amazing stories of the past. You’ll also find me joining in with the fun, from singing at the incredible Young Voices concert to making the most of something as simple (and joyful!) as chalk drawing at break time.

Year 3 is all about growing in confidence, taking on new challenges, and showing kindness and respect as role models in our school. I know we are going to achieve so much together, and I can’t wait to see all the fantastic things you will do this year

Spelling Test- Friday

Reading book- to be returned to school each Thursday to be changed

ALL children are required to bring their yellow reading record and reading books to school each day, even if it is not their 'reading day'!

Each week, children are expected to read their school reading book at least 3 times during the week. This could be a phonics book, a fluency book or a free reader book depending on their reding level. All children also have a library book that they choose according to their reading ability.

EdShed is set each week for children to practice their spellings using interactive games- Miss Pickles gives stamps out to children she sees engaging!

Times Table Rockstars (TT Rockstars) is another brilliant interactive resource to practice times tables! In year 3, we focus on the 3, 4 and 8 times table as well as the 2, 5 and 10s from KS1- Miss Pickles gives stamps out to children she sees engaging!
